Midwest Environmental Services Industrial Waste Management

Midwest accepts electronic wastes for recycling

Computers, monitors, fax machines, copiers, cell phones, telephones and televisions are just a few types of e-waste that are constantly updated by businesses and consumers.

E-waste may contain lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury or other hazardous materials harmful to human health and our environment. The EPA encourages businesses to recycle their e-waste because of those hazardous materials. When e-waste is recycled properly it is not regulated under hazardous waste laws, however, if e-waste is not recycled, it must be evaluated to determine if it exhibits a characteristic of hazardous waste which will be regulated.

To promote compliance we offer recycling opportunities in which the best available technology will be used to disassemble e-waste and recover useable components such as memory boards, disk drives, video cards and micro-processing chips. Plastic and glass components may be recycled into new products. Metals will be separated and sent to smelters where they are melted and used to make new products.
