The Hazardous Waste Manifest System

EPA has recently established new requirements revising the Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest and Continuation Sheet used to track hazardous waste from a generator's site to the site of its disposition. Starting September 5, 2006, the new Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest must be used for all hazardous waste shipments.

The revisions will standardize the content and appearance of the manifest and make them available from a greater number of sources that have been approved by the EPA Manifest Registry to print and distribute the form.

A number of states have additional state requirements regarding the use of the new waste manifest. Some states require copies to be submitted to the state, and/or have state-specific waste codes in addition to the federal hazardous waste codes required to be entered on the new manifest.
